Thomas Vaccaro’s primary focus at The NHP Foundation (NHPF) is SVP of External Affairs & Corporate Secretary. The application of his skills and experience at NHPF has been the culmination of a career focused on homelessness and affordable housing which began in 1989. At NHPF Mr. Vaccaro is responsible for creating and growing the robust 4- member External Affairs team which encompasses thought leadership, PR/marketing, creation/maintenance of all organization collateral materials and websites, data analysis, fundraising, and as Corporate Secretary he oversees all paralegal activities for the corporate structure, which includes over 200 subsidiaries. In addition, Mr. Vaccaro is also

credited with conceiving and producing NHPF’s widely respected bi-partisan Annual Symposium & Dinner which began in 2017 and averages over 90 corporate sponsors and 400 in attendance. The event has earned the Hanley Wood Brand Builder Platinum Award for Best B2B Custom Event as well as a Telly Award for its video, “Delivering on Our Commitment.” Earlier in his career, Vaccaro worked for the Salvation Army’s Western Division. There, he skillfully directed the organization’s housing programs, which included emergency shelters, transitional housing programs, off-site scattered single-family housing, and a psychiatric housing program for the homeless. Vaccaro received HUD’s National Blue Ribbon Best Practice award for co-creating and chairing the Omaha Area Continuum of Care For The Homeless and he was recognized by the United Way of the Midlands with its Leota G. Norton Community Service Award for his efforts in working with the homeless. After earning a B.A. from St. Louis University in Psychology with an emphasis on homelessness and domestic violence, Mr. Vaccaro went on to Catholic Theological Union for Master Studies of Divinity. • Develops and implements short- and long-term strategic fundraising and marketing plans • Coordinates, cultivates, and solicits Federal, State, corporate, and foundation prospects • Performs grant management, corporate compliance, and reporting • Maintains corporate documents for 74 affiliate organizations • Coordinates and develops all communication, media, and marketing materials • Develops and maintains all websites • Creates, executes, and oversees special events • Directs data collection and analysis

THE RESOURCE GROUP 1999 – 2004 Director

• Raised $27 million for nonprofits • Founding principal and director, providing management, consulting, and support services to nonprofit agencies in the Midwest. • Responsible for leadership, daily operations, the Board of Directors, personnel management, donor and community relations, and fiscal oversight • Provided consulting expertise related to accreditation and licensure procedures, grant proposal writing, annual campaigns, organizational development, board / staff development and training, program development, community collaborations and partnerships, special events, grant compliance, and strategic planning. • Served 109 nonprofit organizations in Iowa, including those related to education, arts and culture, health and human services organizations
