Affordable Housing Trailblazer Award Honoree

SENATOR SUSAN COLLINS

Senator Collins ranks 13th in Senate seniority and is the most senior Republican woman. As the chairman of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, Senator Collins coauthored the Fiscal Year 2019 Transportation and Housing Appropriations Act that will provide $54 billion for HUD, an increase of $1.3 billion over 2018, and includes significant increases for Section 8 programs, public housing, and housing for seniors and

for persons with disabilities. Senator Collins recently received the NLIHC Brooke Award, which is awarded to an exemplary housing leader with a record of fighting for affordable housing on the national level. For the past five consecutive years, she has been ranked as the most bipartisan Senator. Her record demonstrates significant legislative accomplishments in such critical areas as homeland security, national defense, disaster response, education, business development, health care, and issues of particular interest to our nation’s seniors.
